Good Value, Worked for My Speakers! July 13, 2010 JayJ (South Texas) After reading all the specs and reviews for this and other stands, I selected the Sanus HTB3 and am very satisfied. My Energy Take Classic speakers fit the stands just fine. The speakers weigh 3 lbs and the bases are heavy enough to be stable. I used the 1/4 in. mounting hole above the wire connections and the L shaped bracket and 1/4 in. mounting bolt that came with the stand. I used a washer and felt pad between bracket and speaker to correct a small tilt. Do your homework to decide if your weight and shape speaker will work, along with desired height of speaker. The higher your speakers, the more unstable thus the more weight and larger area needed for the base. These don't adjust very high but I just needed ear height at sitting position. The directions are not as clear as they should be but it is not a complicated procedure. One stand was not adjustable because of the poor quality plastic height adjustment sleeve - thus the "4" rating. I had to use electrical tape and pliers to make the adjustment. The other one worked just fine. Could have requested a replacement but it was a quick fix. 14 gauge wire will fit inside the tubes, with lube, and doing one section at a time. 16 gauge would be easier.

I just bought these speaker stands. I have TINY Sony rear speakers so the fact that the stability didn't seem too great wasn't an issue. Once I put them together the piece that holds the two poles together worked on one but not the other. The connector itself is cheap plastic while the rest of the stand is made of decent quality metal. Didn't make much sense. The stand that DID work wouldn't allow height adjustment but did hold the speaker up at base height which is pretty low.
Pro:
Cheap as far as price
Cons:
Connectors are cheap plastic
Height is pretty low even if you can a connector that works
Finally a stand that will hold the Energy Take 5 Classic April 1, 2010 M. Reinig (San Diego, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Went through a couple of other stands prior to ordering this one. This was the only one that I could use to mount the satellites for the Energy Take 5 speakers. Satisfied with them so far:
Good:
- Heavy base making the unit sturdy
- Plenty of hardware for mounting
- Finish is durable
Bad:
- They dont extend high enough. We have a high backed couch and the dont extend over the top of it
- Running the wire through the stand was not easy.....if you have thicker speaker wire
Overall pleased with this purchase but only gave it 4 stars because of the height limit
Solid stands, great design, excellent value. February 16, 2010 C. Winetrout Very happy with these stands, especially for the price. I'd easily buy these for double the price, knowing now what the quality is.
Sturdy, Well Made Stands January 11, 2010 R. LEDER 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The price was right! I bought two sets because I could not tell from the description that two stands were included. It was alright because I really wanted to setup 7.1, but am waiting for Sony to make the extra speakers available.
The quality and availability of varied optional installation parts made the installation a snap.
